Activity 10

After last week students have the title of research and targeted research subjects with a specific purpose, this week Mr Aji deliver questionnaires to study how to write. In making the questionnaire, not just perfunctory create and disseminate the research subjects. However, there are several steps, including:
1. Determine the purpose of research
2. Determine the target or subject of research studies (the respondent)
3. Determine the number of respondents that will be used to facilitate data processing research
4. Make a simple question asked and easy to answer
The questionnaire also contained two types of questions, ie questions open and closed questions.

In the delivery of material to write this questionnaire, Mr. Aji not submit detailed manufacturing steps. Because according to him to make the material questionnaires and other research procedures described in the Research Methodology course. Message Mr. Aji is "try to find the subject of study that is easily obtained, do not look for a research subject is too complicated because it is only a simple research".

Mr. aji have students determine the number of respondents and make the questionnaire. Asnah and Lutfi prepare questions that will be used for the interview, because they use wawacara data collection. From interviews are then processed and analyzed using SPSS software. Another student was also busy making questionnaire and determine research objectives. They are very enthusiastic and active in the discussion.

Activity 11

29 October 2014 English lesson theme this week is the continuing story of the interview task tourists. However, much discussed this week is about a tourist responses to the film “Malam Jum’at Kliwon” and grammar corrected by tourists.

Presentation of the movie review and correction of language structure, starting with the group consisting of girls. The first group is the group that developed Rofiatus and Afina. They tell the synopsis errors corrected by tourists, most of the fault lies in the sentence structure and verb used. The next group is the group of girls-boys, the group Ariful and Umi. Then followed by Hanny and Zaki. According to the group Hanny and Zaki errors corrected most nearly equal to that of the group Rofiatus grammar and tenses. The next group is the group Asnah and Lutfi. Unlike the previous group, the error corrected synopsis of their group lies in the word typing errors. So that tourists feel confused to correct the synopsis. For example the word "becouse" Because supposed. In addition, according to them also lies in the grammar mistakes, tenses, and using the word. They also tell tourists conclusion when reading movie reviews, according to the story or the film tourists is very creepy. After Asnah and Lutfi, the next group is the group Aan and Esty and then followed by another group.

At the end of the course Mr. Aji give appreciation to the students and provide a conclusion of some errors that occur on the composition of the student movie reviews.

Activity 9

              After last week all groups had the title of the research that will be used for further research, this week is to discuss the design related observation initial step that must be done in conducting the research.

In this design observation Mr. Aji deliver important points in the preparation of simple research report, including:

1.      What is the title research?

2.      What is objective?

3.      What is method?

4.      What is respondent?

5.      What is the number of respondent?

6.      What is location?

7.      What is duration?

In this task students must make a report and ppt for presentation.
And unusually, this week Asnah Lutfi and separate sitting area. I wonder what made them sit separately, which obviously was Lutfi bit late to class while Asnah already in the classroom. Although they sat apart, and even then can not reduce their enthusiasm in participating in this lecture. Although busy with hobbies and habits of each, they look heed material submitted by Mr. Aji.
At the end of the course Mr. Aji provide conclusions and deliver the theme of the material for the next week.

Activity 8

Wednesday 13 October 2014 Lutfi and Asnah was given the task create a research plan about ICT. However, in the meeting, they discussed was to determine the title of research relating to  ICT. In determining the title research Mr Aji give directions to know the problems or that happened before determining the title research.

The task of this research work in groups with two children , and the results of research made a report and presentation slides . Of the results of this research will be used as the value of the middle of the semester , so expected that students in following the presentation . 

Students are very enthusiastic in the discussions, as well as with Lutfi and Asnah. They debate each other to determine who will be the issue of research. Until finally they find problems with different subjects with other students. They take on the subject of research to society around the campus. Determination of research subjects are also based on different age categories. Because of their title is A Study of People Using Knowledge on the Internet.
Another student also actively asked Mr. Aji related research titles that they will use. And with a strong background finally approved by the student's research title Mr. Aji.

Activity 6

Presentate interview with tourist

             

The sixth meeting, students presented the result of PTI B 2012 interview with tourist. They were like to talk about how to introduce self and ask permission to tourist so they would be invited to interview. In the presentation there use a slide presentation and tells the sotory there. From there the story they begin to direct interview with tourist and ask for an interview. Somedays are already looking for tourist but bo body tourist who want the invite to interview.
The first presentation was begin by Afina and Rofiatus group, they tell the result of interview with tourist named Ondra and Olina. The next presentation by Endah and Feby, they are use slide presentation. Presentation from Feby very interesting because she is very fluent in English. And the next presentation followed by Ifa and Wildan. They talked about interview experiences with tourist  and they wait for hours in front of the dorm. The next group is the group Lutfi and Asnah with the first story by Asnah and followed by Lutfi. Asnah story explained clearly and concisely, but Lutfi looked confused forstringing words will be spoked. And the result is a sentence which ahe alleges to be messy and difficult to understand.
Here’s the story presented by Lutfi and Asnah:
“On Wednesday Oct 1st, 2014bwe were looking for foreigner in Wisma, Letter Faculty, Malang of Square, and the last English First Course but we got failure. After looking hard we found out two foreigner in front of Balai Bahasa State University of Malang on Monday Oct 6th 2014.
They were Amsyah from Poland and Radia from Algeria. They were in Indonesia since a month ago to study. Amsyah and Radia choosed to study in Indonesia because Indonesia had good education and  good behaviour. Amsyah taught ICT in Indonesia was same but not as much as with inn her country. Radi taught ICT in Indonesia was good there are wifi area but not everywhere. They also gave correction to our movie review about Malam Jumat Kliwon ”
At the end of the course Mr Aji provide duty next week to share the result of interviews with tourist on a tourist view of the difference of ICT in Indonesia and in the region of origin. However, the exposure time is quite unique, because itsi delivered in the form of recordings, videos, or demonstrate a conversation with tourist.

Activity 16

Final Test

Activity 16 was the last meeting of advance english engineering on this semester. This meeting will be done final test on Thursday, December, 16^th, 2014. Mr. Aji gave some rules to his student. During the test, they must do

1.      Do not cheating.

2.      Do not allow to bring any electronic communication

3.      Student do not allow to borrow any equipment like dictionary, bolpoint, eraser, etc.

4.      Allow to use electronic dictionary in phone with one conditon. That is the phone must not can be used to communication.

5.      No communication with other student.

6.      Student must do the test theirself

If any breach, the invigilator will fool out those student from test room and Mr. Aji vill gave zero score

Activity 15

The Fifth Peresntation About Research

on english meeting, December, 3^th, 2014, the learning of informatic engineering 2012 B had presentation about their research report. That was their fifth presentation about research. Because that was their last meeting for presentation and there were 8 groups who were presentate yet, Mr. Aji gave a new rule. That was presentation might done in 10 minutes.

The first group was Afina and Rofiatus. Rofiatus asked Mr. Aji to gave her presentation first because she might go to somewhere. This week, moderator just gave a change to one audience to ask.

The second group was Endah and Feby, the third group was Ninik and Rozin, Fourth group was Ikfar and Adi, the fifth group was Puguh and Robby, the sixth group was Riska and Faqih, the seventh group was Aan and Esti and The last group was Faqih. On that week, many group might finish their presentation force before finishing all. Like Ikfar and Adi. On their presentation there were no question because they explained too long and the other group was Aan and Esti. Esti explained too long so the moderator cut it.

After all of group finished their presentation, Mr. Aji told his appreciate.

Activity 14

Third Presentation About Research

on english meeting, November, 26^th, 2014, the learning of informatic engineering 2012 B had presentation about their research report. That was their third presentation after one group had presentate two weeks ago and 5 groups had presentate a week ago. On that week, 5 group would presentate their research.

The first group was Asnah’s group. She was with Lutfi. The moderator was Rofiatus and the secretary was Afina. First, Rofiatus read their research tittle then gave time to lufti as first presenter. She explained about the tittle, objective of research, time and location, and research method. After lutfi finish her presentation, Asnah continued it presentate the next topic. That was collection technique, analysis and result. After presentation, Rofiatus gave a time to discuss. There were tree question. First question was from David, secon question was from Riska and the last question was from Ariful. David asked about table of result. He didn’t understand about it, so do Mr. Aji. Their table didn’t explained about result well but they could answered questions well.

The second group was Tomi’s group. He was with Syaiful. The third group was Eka and Maulita. From their presentation, they had same problem with kukuh’s group last week. The question and the answer was not match.

The fouth and the fifth group were Dhendik dan Wildan’s group. This meeting just five group could presentate, because limit time.

Second presentation about research

on english meeting, November, 19^th, 2014, the learning of informatic engineering 2012 B had presentation about their research report. That was their second presentation after on last week, just one group had presentate their report. As usually, Mr. Aji chose the group randomly to presentate and lead presentation but this time he gave just 25 minutes to presentate. The first group who would presentate their research was Rini and Rosa about kind of book material use to study. The next group was Umi and Ariful.

Asnah was moderator and lutfi was secretary in third presentation. The group was Muchson and Vishal. After presentation, asnah just gave tree question to audience because limit time. Muchson and Vishal could answer the qusetions well. The last, Asnah asked lutfi to read the conclution.

The next presentation was Azza’s group. He was with Kukuh. From their presentation, there was a problem about their quessionaire. The question and the answer was not match like descriptive questioan had “yes” or “no” answer. They got critic from audience.

The final group from that meeting was Dhani’s group. He was with Bagus. After presentation, Mr. Aji gave a comment that our presentation was good. Audience was active gave question.

First Presentation About Research

On english meeting, November, 19^th, 2014, Mr. Aji ask student in informatic engineering 2012 B to presentate their research in font of the class. That research was group task. Every group consist of 2 student. Asnah and lutfi were in same group. From 38 student, there were 16 group who might presentate, so it was impossible to do that task in one meeting. This week was first meeting to presentate.

Mr. Aji chose the group who will presentate first and one group again as moderator and secretary randomly. The group who would presentate was Hanny Prasetya Hariadi and A. Rizky Zakaria, the moderator was Feby Fadilla and the secretary was Endah Septa S. He also gave his student some rules that might done during presentation, are:

1.      Score of presentation would be a group score.

2.      Score of report writing would be a group score.

3.      When a group were presentating their report, all of student might listen carefully.

4.      The leader of presentation was Moderator. He/she would manage presentation like gave opening, manage presenter turn, discussion, asked the secetery to read conclution in the final presentation and time management. Moderator also might generate a audients question be simple.

5.      A student who give a question to presenter would get a score to improve their english score.

6.      The presenter who answered student’s question would get more score. This score was indivudual score.

Hanny and A. Rizky gave presentation well. There were some students got curious. They asked to them and be answered by them well. Mr. Aji gave them praise and told the other do do more next time. Because, Mr. Aji had some bussiness in other place, so the presentation would end and continued next time.

Listening Interview Foreigner

At 11.45 A.M. Asnah and Lutfi go to their classroom. They see speakers on the table.  Ariful bring it to support the course because they will play the record of interviewing foreigner. If the group don’t get record from interview, those group must figure the conversation in front of class. They must listen it intensely ‘cause Mr. Aji, the lecturer of Advance English Engineering, tell that beside the group who sound on the record or figure conversation, the other group must answer question ftom those group. The group who can’t answer it will get a punisment.

The first group is group with number L4 but there is no one remember it. So Mr. Aji change the number. This time, Asnah and Lutfi get R3 as their group number. Feby’s group is the first group who will sound on her record. Because her friend is absent that day, she sound of the record alone. the situation is quietly soon. They listen carefully same as Lutfi and Asnah. The record is sounded on till the foreigner tell what their think about ICT in indonesia compare with their country. She give three question to them. First and second question are answered well. The third question for R3, Asnah and Lutfi. The question is what Alder Getter think about ICT in indonesia comapare with his country. Lutfi is confuse because she not listen carefully the conversation tell about it. So the question is answered by Asnah. It is Alder Gettet says that in his country, everyone has computer. After that Mr. Aji ask Feby to choose the next group.

The time is running. There are group who sound on the record, the group who just figure the conversation, and there is group who will sound on the record but then figure the conversation ‘cause the record so bad. The conversation not sound clearly. Those group is Rofiatus’s group. This week, Asnah and Lutfi don’t get time to sound on their record. They just listen the other group’s record or the other group conversation the answer the question.

Mr. Aji told that he apreciate his student because while one group sound on or figure conversation, the other group listen carefully not busy with their own business.

Fourth Activity

Malam Jumat Kliwon Storytelling

Asnah and Lutfi have a task to retell a movie. Not like before, they retell a animated movie, they retell a horror movie on this week. The title is Malam Jumat Kliwon. A movie figured by Suzanna. Their teacher, Mr. Aji, ask his student to retell in group. A group consist of two students. One student retell the story in Indonesia and the other translate it to english. If two weeks ago, Mr. Aji let his student to retell with paper, this time he just allow paper that tell the story in indonesian. He want his student get used to english.

The fisrt group is Muchson’s group. He and his friend, Vishal, tell the beginning of the story. The story is “Ayu Trisnaningrat was a mystery novelist who famed in Jakarta”. The story is continue fluently till Asnah and Lutfi’s turn. Lutfi read story in indonesian but she read in long sentence. Asnah get trouble to translete it but she make out it. She don’t translate what exactly Lutfi’s says. she tell in another word but with same meaning.

There is no group group get mistake or missing the order of story till Esti’s group. She and his friend, Aan, get problem. They debate what the next story. Aan know it and he tell Esti what the next story but she don’t believe him. She must tell “Ayu asked Ardan why the window was broken” but she tell a wrong story. They get punishment from Mr. Aji. He ask them to figure Bokir and Sundel Bolong like in story. All of in the class laugh see them.

The story still unfinish till the last group, so Mr. Aji change the rule. If the story is told by a group before, now the story is told by two groups. One tell in indonesian and the other translate it to English. The first turn are Ifa’s group who tell in indonesian and the translator is Asnah and Lutfi. They are surprise. They assume that this turn more difficult than before. So they listen Ifa’s group intensely. After ifa finishing tell the story, they think in while then Asnah answer it. They fell roomy.

The course time is expiry but the story still unfinish. Mr. Aji finish the course. He appreciate his student because translate well.

Fifth Activity

At this fifth meeting we received material about Writing for Broadcasting. In the material we were taught about writing news form the radio or on TV, with the rules of writing as follows:

1.      Use plain English

·         No time for the audience to find the meaning of one complex word, use

Poor instead of impoverished

Truth instead of veracity

2.      Use concrete words

3.      Avoid inverted sentences

For news writing must be able to answer

·         Who was involved?

·         What happened?

·         When did it happen?

·         Where did it happen?

·         Why did it happen?

·         How did it happen?

After the explanation of the material presented in a very interesting, we have a duty to looking for news for 5 minutes in English class area of Engineering.

Lutfi by inviting spirit Asnah find news, without realizing it turns Asnah sleepy when lessons. With a swing move very slow Asnah follow Lutfi looking for news and they set goals to find news on the #rd floor of the building H5 UM College of Engineering.

Following the news that they managed to get:

At 12.50 o’clock beside H5-306 room, two student are sleeping and they listend music use headset and bag as pillow.  ( Reported by Asfi )

5 minutes have passed and they returned to the classroom to report the news they receive. For the next task is to write the story of the video Blackberry for sale presented by the lecturer.
